Must-have plugins for every site!

Below are some important plugins that every site should have. They’re meant to help you keep your site secure and improve page speed. Don’t install more than one plugin that performs the same activity. For example, having two caching plugins will not improve page speed 2x. If anything, it might cause a plugin conflict.

Security Plugin

A security plugin is a must to keep your site secure and safe from hacking.

If you’re hosted with Siteground, I recommend Siteground Security. Definitely take advantage of the 2-factor authentication option! And choose a strong password.

WordFence is another popular, reliable security plugin. It’s also free and easy to set up.

Backup Plugin

In case your site breaks due to a plugin or theme update (or something else), you can restore your site in minutes if you have a backup. Some hosts, like Siteground, offer free backups daily, so make sure to check if yours does.

Caching Plugin

A caching plugin’s job is to help improve page speed.

Great plugins I’ve used before are WP Fastest Cache, LiteSpeed Cache, Autoptimize and (the plugin I currently use) Siteground Security.

If your site is hosted by Siteground, then Siteground Security should be already installed on your site.

SEO Plugin

A great way to optimize your posts and pages for search engines and improve your ranking.

Recommended plugins: Yoast SEO and Rank Math.

Image Optimization

Not always necessary to have a plugin for this, because some caching plugins (like Siteground Security) already offer image compression and using WebP images.

But if your caching plugin doesn’t offer this, plugins like Smush and Hummingbird will do the job nicely.
